Background
Students from universities worldwide were selected for this internship at Philips Lighting and divided into teams. The mission for my team was to propose B2B solutions regarding connected lighting. The assignment encouraged us to start broad, considering different domains, and converge as the project continued. Our team was expected to deliver a prototype that matched the value proposition, and to develop a business model for the topic.
Given confidentiality restrictions, I will not go into detail about the process and details of the project. Below are images to give an impression of our work.
Learning points
During the internship I learned:
- How to work in a team that is not only multi-disciplinary, but also multi-cultural.
- What it means to work for a multinational: the regulations, the opportunities, and the hierarchy of the company.
- How to do a project from start to completion in 10 weeks. We started from scratch with team members you do not know. In a relatively short time frame we had a completed concept that we presented to the colleagues, the business team, and directors of Philips Lighting.
